Haiden Deegan discusses his wrist injury and future
3-time AMA 250 Champion Haiden Deegan joins Ricky Carmichael and Ryan Villopoto to talk the SMX playoffs, an update on the wrist, his thoughts on which coast he’ll race in 2025, and more. Plus, our champions talk Motocross of Nations prior to their trip overseas.
After all the drama I think it was clearly the right move to make sure he’s healthy and the wrist is good for the future. The kid has a long future ahead of him and you don’t want to fuck around with that injury. Plus, I love our team dynamics for the MXON and getting Coop back on the 250. Looking forward to the race, just hope it’s not a mudder or all bets are off
I don’t think many would argue with that logic, it was just how it was (mis)handled in typical deegan fashion
Nobody can really argue those points, the issue most have is how it was handled on their end on the PR side. If they had said from the beginning he needs to get the hardware out and it’s going to be a longer recovery because there is ligament damage from the pins or screws, then yeah some people would call BS but at least it appears to be the truth.
Too many industry people say he was waiting for Tomacs decision, so at some point they were willing to go. Do they “owe” the fans anything? Not really. But when you like to run your mouth about all the “haters and doubters” you kind of open yourself up to that criticism.
I wish the kid was going and the rest is what it is, not the end of the world and he’ll be around for years and years, but I do hope they learn from the negative feedback and do better going forward.
