Wigan Warriors breakout star recalls 2024 highlight and makes 2025 vow
Wigan Warriors rising star Jack Farrimond has recalled his personal highlight of the club’s incredible 2024 as well as making a vow ahead of the 2025 Super League season.
The youngster made eight appearances in Super League in 2024, a figure far more than he’d have likely anticipated as injuries to Bevan French and a suspension for Harry Smith afforded him game time.
Thankfully for Wigan and Farrimond, he took to the role brilliantly with the playmaker looking very adept in the spine of the would-be quadruple winners. During the eight games that Farrimond started, Wigan won six of them with the only defeats being the shock loss to Hull FC and the hammering against Warrington Wolves.
It’s fair to say that those two losses were among the lowlights of an incredible season but it was a debut campaign full of highlights for Farrimond, however, he’s now explained that he’s not look back upon the season all that much.

In an interview with the club website, Farrimond reflected on the 2024 campaign on the whole as well as personally, whilst also looking ahead to 2025.
“Winning all four trophies was fantastic but personally I haven’t looked back on the season too much,” the 19-year-old admitted.
Instead, his focus is on 2025, as he explained: “I’m just focused on working as hard as I can and listening to all the coaches so that I’m ready for any opportunities next season presents.”
The opportunities presented in 2024 came due to injury and suspension to French and Smith and with fellow back-up Ryan Hampshire no longer with the club, the task of deputising will likely fall on Farrimond once again.
Playing during the stretch of games from Round 15 to Round 19, he’d miss two before being recalled for one of the biggest stages of the season at Magic Weekend with Wigan Warriors slated to play rivals St Helens.
Farrimond won Man of the Match in a 20-0 win and he’s now dubbed that game as his personal highlight of the season, and understandably so.
The teenager said: “It has to be the Magic Weekend try against St Helens. The stage was massive and I remember thinking if I scored I’d keep the celebration cool. As soon as it happened I looked up and saw all the fans celebrating, the only thing I could do was boot the ball into row Z.”
He also gave an insight into the pre-season work that has already gone on as Wigan look to defend three of their four crowns in 2024 with the World Club Challenge sadly not slated to be played.
“It’s been tough, as it should be,” Farrimond said.
“We started hard with the Yo-Yo test and in between we’ve had plenty of gym and strength and conditioning sessions. It’s nice to be back around the lads who are in, and we’re all ready to rip in.”
